Embarc Collective, Tampa Bay’s New Innovation Hub, Selects Kognition for AI Security Software

The rapidly growing startup will deploy its patent-pending, AI-powered solutions to create a safer, smarter and more secure facility

January 14, 2020, Philadelphia, PA – Creating a safer smarter world is the mantra at Philadelphia-based Kognition. The company’s patent-pending Smart Property System enables commercial properties to run smoother, safer and more efficiently than was ever possible before. Kognition’s hardware-agnostic AI is the software “brain” that powers commercial office buildings and enables them to see, think and act autonomously to improve performance, increase ROI and reduce risk. Kognition is pleased to announce it will now be working in tandem with one of the country’s most innovative and technologically advanced facilities, Embarc Collective.

Embarc Collective is the new 32,000 square-foot nonprofit innovation hub that helps Tampa Bay’s startup talent build bold, scalable, thriving companies. Embarc Collective currently supports over 40 early-stage technology startups. The state-of-the-art innovation center is just north of the Water Street Tampa neighborhood in downtown Tampa, where Jeff Vinik, owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, has partnered with Cascade Investment, LLC to transform the area into an urban, mixed-use waterfront district.

Embarc Collective’s State-of-the-Art Facility

Kognition, a Dreamit Ventures portfolio company, will be equipping the Embarc Collective building with its AI-powered next-generation access control and intelligent video surveillance.  Lakshmi Shenoy, CEO of Embarc Collective noted, “Through our partnership with Dreamit Ventures, we are lucky to connect with and leverage the best technologies in the world that go through their program.  These types of collaborations help build meaningful connectivity between our local region and new technologies from around the world.”

Kognition’s next-generation access control solution enables keyless entry via a smartphone app even when the device remains in your pocket or purse.  Additionally, Kognition’s identity verification AI will monitor video from all cameras simultaneously to ensure only authorized individuals gain admittance.  Kognition’s AI will continuously monitor use of the facility and will highlight abnormal or dangerous activity in real-time.  The system can then take corrective actions such as alerting authorities and locking doors when threats are detected.  In these ways the building and the public will be made safer and more secure.

Embarc Collective’s Hip Collaboration Space

“We are super excited to partner with Embarc Collective to create one of the smartest, safest and most high-tech spaces for innovation in the whole country”, said Matias Klein, Kognition’s founder and CEO.  “As part of this strategic relationship, Kognition will also setup a branch office at Embarc Collective and plans to aggressively hire new staff to support our clients in Tampa and the entire southeast region of the US”.

“We too are thrilled about the intertwining partnership with Kognition and Embarc Collective.  Dreamit’s pre-investment program is tightly focused on connecting our portfolio companies with potential customers, partners and investors”, explained Andrew Ackerman, Managing Director, UrbanTech Dreamit.
